Bryan House
(2008-2010)
Bryan House was the beginning of what is now The Neighbor Project.
At the time, Bryan House served as a temporary home for refugees in Aurora, Ill. The model of Bryan House took outside donations and funding to pay the building’s mortgage while the occupants rent payments were invested, and returned to them with interest at the end of their usually 1-2 year stay. The goal was to help new families accumulate a downpayment for a home, empowering them and deepening ties to their community. I photographed some of the first families and first units they lived in.
